Do I need to set up an account with Zoom in order to join a Zoom meeting?

No, if you are only joining meetings, you do not need a Zoom account. You only need a Zoom account if you are going to be hosting meetings.

Do I have to install the Zoom client software?

You will be prompted to install the Zoom client software when you try to join your first meeting. Strictly speaking, you could join a meeting through your browser without installing the Zoom software, but the software is likely to give you the best experience.

What do I need to have before I can join a meeting?

You will need a computer or mobile phone connected to the internet. The computer you are using to read this page should be fine. In order for you to be seen and heard, the computer should have a camera and microphone.

You will also need the invitation to the particular meeting that you want to join. Normally this will be provided by email, and will contain a link to the meeting, that you should click on to join. It is common for the invitation to also provide the Meeting ID number and Passcode. These are not required if you access the meeting via the link, but can also be used in the Zoom software to join the meeting, rather than joining via the link.

Can I test Zoom before I try to join my first meeting?

Yes, you can join a test meeting to familiarise yourself with Zoom.

We look forward to seeing you at the next online meeting of the Club!
